Severed. (News Review)
SAMUEL OLANIYI, A 65 YEARS OLD MAN HAS BEEN NABBED BY THE SPECIAL INTELLIGENCE TEAM (ITR) OF THE NIGERIAN POLICE AUTHORITY for exhuming the corpse of his late brother and beheading it in an attempt to use it for money ritual.
The suspect was arrested alongside with two accomplices, who were Matthew, a logger, and Uchenna Olewunna. Olaniyi was a wine tapper and a native of Ipokia Area of Ogun State. The three suspects were apprehended on their way to Sango Otta to deliver the severed head to a native doctor who had demanded a human skull for the ritual of making Olaniyi rich.
An IRT source revealed that after severing the corpse, Olaniyi had given the head to Samuel who had hidden it in an unfinished building, as they tried to raise N48,000 fee for the native Doctor for the rituals.
While interrogating Olaniyi, he confessed that he regretted his action deeply and claimed that it was his first time in dealing in human body parts and blamed another friend of his for leading him astray. He said that it was Uchenna who helped him dig the corpse out while Samuel held the torchlight during the night of the exhumation.
The IRT source also revealed that the three suspects would be charge to court as soon as the investigation was concluded.
