Still at Large (News Review)
THE MAN WHO SOLD HIS 60 YEARS OLD HUNCHBACK MOTHER TO RITUAL KILLERS FOR N7 MILLION IS STILL AT LARGE, AFTER EVADING APPREHENSION.
His supposedly deceased mother, Rukayat Abodunde, a fish monger and a resident of Aiyetoro, an area in Ondo West in Ondo town in Ondo state, was kidnapped by some armed men, suspected to be ritual killers around 10pm, after shooting sporadically into the air to scare away people, and then dragging her into a car.
Then, two days after her abduction, the ritualists had returned to demand the refund of their money from the son, having discovered that his mother's back hump which was supposed to bring them wealth was not natural but a result of a domestic accident.
This demand had led to a falling out with the son who had also demanded the return of his mother alive to him, hale and hearty. Their argument had given the neighbours privy into the abduction of the victim. Hence, they had attempted to apprehend the son thereafter, but he had managed to slip away through their fingers.
According to some of the neighbours, the son had spent part of his newly ill-got fortune on buying some clothes for his deceased mother before staging her kidnap, and he had also renovated the house they both shared.
The neighbours had immediately gone to apprise the police of the matter, and days later, the State Police Public Relations Officer(PPRP), Femi Joseph had averred that the reports were true, stating that investigation was still ongoing. No corpse had been found and no arrest had been made as at the time of this review.
